Vintage style kitchen
Light green high-gloss enamel paint on old, dinged-up cabinet doors refreshes the look of an older kitchen. (The paint color was inspired by vintage Jadeite.) Dated hardware was swapped for brushed-nickel knobs and hinges.
White kitchen cabinets make color choices for accessories and countertops somewhat easier to choose an accent color theme throughout the kitchen and surrounding rooms. Using white color cabinetry in any of the styles mentioned can accomplish a design which is timeless and stay stylish for years to come.

Brown and cream cabinet doors
Multiple layers of stenciling in brown and cream add timeworn elegance to a ho-hum kitchen. Chunky copper-look hardware teams well with the faux-tile stenciled designs.
Creamy white cabinets and blue kitchen island.
Creamy white paint on formerly dark cabinets makes this kitchen feel larger. The existing island was painted a darker shade of green than the walls to help it stand out. Faux wrought-iron knobs tie the updated cabinets in with the black light fixture/pot rack.
All white kitchen
Painting old cabinets crisp white (plus polishing existing hardware) saves them for another decade of use. Repeating the backsplash’s beaded board on a new island gives everything the same old-time flavor.
White and black kitchen design, country style
Get the homey look of heirloom furniture with home center products. Bun feet, a beaded-board backsplash, and an arched fascia below the upper cabinet create the look of freestanding furniture. Painting the “hutch” ivory and the sink cabinet black helps the masquerade.
