Versatile Porcelain Kitchen Sink For Country Style Kitchen

Saturday, December 4th, 2010

Porcelain kitchen sinks are available in different colors but they are common in old homes. They contain a porcelain coating over a base of cast iron or other metal. Don’t drop any heavy item on these sinks otherwise they may get chipped. They are suitable for traditional as well as for country style. It is not easy to remove some hard stains from the porcelain kitchen sinks.

decorate your kitchen in a nautical theme

When looking to decorate your kitchen in a nautical theme, one of the best ways to go with counters is dark wood cabinets and marble tops. The dark cabinets give a representation of the deck of a ship. However, if you are not interested in having your cabinets made of a dark color, white is also an option for both the counter top and the cabinet. Add decals of ships, lighthouses, ships or seashells to the cabinets to add charm and tie the room together.

Why Choose Copper Sinks For Your Kitchen

Friday, January 9th, 2009

When it comes to sinks there are many types of kitchen sinks available in the market. In fact, the kitchen sink market has undergone a huge makeover in the recent times with a lot of people opting to remodel their kitchen sinks. Amongst the various sinks available in the market people nowadays are opting for copper sinks.

While talking about kitchen sinks it becomes hard to overlook copper sinks which have revolutionized the home improvement industry. Copper sinks are a lot easier to maintain, have a greater functionality rate and add to the decor of your kitchen.

You don’t need to spend dimes to maintain a copper sink. Moreover they are made to last and with the advent of time they grow even more beautiful and polished. Copper has a tendency to turn a golden brown with age, which looks beautiful and attractive. Hence it wouldn’t be wrong to day that copper sinks age gracefully. All this is a natural process. Copper even has a tendency to oxidize with age which gives it a light bronze color. You don’t have to spend on any harsh detergents or cleaning agents since copper can be cleaned merely using mild soap and water. Some people prefer the original color of copper. You don’t need to worry even then. You may use brass or even furniture wax to keep copper shiny as ever!

What makes a copper sink score over a traditional stainless steel sink is its hygiene. Copper sinks are easier to clean and look more spotless as compared to a regular kitchen sink. Copper has a natural chemical compound which fights bacteria and hence bacteria find it difficult to survive on a copper surface. Researches have revealed that bacteria survive over traditional stainless steel sinks even after being cleaned and hence copper sinks are more hygienic and safer to use. Bacteria can only survive for an hour on a copper surface!
