Once the refectory of a nunnery, this generous extension to a listed house was cut back by BWA to create a glamorous kitchen and family room, seamlessly extending into a stylish urban patio.

Barbara Weiss Architects is a medium size practice with 16 staff, based in a converted warehouse in Islington. The office employs a large proportion of women, is very international in composition and is run by two directors (Barbara Weiss and Nicholas Jamieson) and two associates (Stefan Hack and Maria Benitez). In May 2007 the practice celebrated its 20th birthday, a milestone that confirmed its wealth of practical experience, and highlighted the design sophistication and aesthetic maturity progressively developed by BWA over the years.
